TFS S2E3: Iman and Her Team of FemmeBots Threaten the City!

Iman has no use for girls who dress like their grandmothers!

Look at her, minions. She is the Goddess of Fabulous.

Cheesetastic! And we LOVED it. Like we said, pretend Iman's a supervillain in every scene. For this one, we pretended that she was revealing her plans to poison the city's water supply.

We actually liked the challenge, vague and cheesy as it was. "Femme Fatale" means a lot of different things and it was interesting to see the designers attempt to put their own spin on it.

Calvin was (mostly) on his best behavior, even if his teammates weren't particularly welcoming.

But Team Emerald put a little too much power in Cesar's hands and he went from zero to bitchy awfully quickly.

We felt like the show was pushing an inevitable Calvin vs. Cesar setup and we feared there was a possibility Cesar would go home, because the editing was certainly going that way. It didn't help that Cesar's dress was pretty bad. Thankfully, so was Calvin's.

So congrats to Team Nami and Eduardo!

We agreed with the team win because Emerald's collection was mostly a tacky mess, which supports the idea that Calvin was never the problem with that team. As for Eduardo's win, it wouldn't have been our pick.

For one, it's just so damn done and done, these Lanvin/Marchesa ripoffs. Pretty, but seen it a thousand times. And besides, there was a better dress in that collection, one that had a fresh and modern take on the femme fatale, but we'll get to that when we do the team posts.

He's cute when he smiles but he dresses like a dork sometimes. Anyway, what was with the whole thing about asking him who the weakest member of the team was?

Why bother asking that if no one on the team is on the chopping block? Clearly the producers want to milk the Calvin cow as much as they can, so the only reason for asking the question was to add even more tension to the team.

As for Tamara, poor girl had it written all over her. It was only a matter of time. And not because of a lack of talent, but because she clearly wasn't going to be able to do the whole teamwork thing.

Iman is still fabulous. Just thought you should know.

She was alright. She made some good points and even got a tiny bit bitchy. Can't ask more from a guest judge than that. Iman seemed to have no idea what to do with her, but Isaac clearly loved her.

Anyway, Tamara's look. Y'know...we thought it had potential. Why NOT use Mary J. Blige as a reference point? It's not the inspiration that matters so much as how you make it work and we think she could have made a case for a hip hop/R&B-inspired femme fatale look.

She could have even made the case for dramatic necklines and peplums referencing classic '40s style elements if she wanted to.

But part of the problem had to do with the fact that this just looked too '90s. The other part is, she just didn't want to listen to anyone else on her team. Cesar got a little full of himself this week and he probably could have spent more time worrying about his own garment, but we have no doubt he could have helped her incorporate what she was doing into the team design aesthetic, but he wasn't being particularly patient with her and she didn't really want to hear it.

That Golnessa gal is lucky, though. Her dress was HIDDY, but not as offensive to the judges as Tamara's, apparently. But again, we'll run down the individual looks in the team posts.
Still a fun show, though, right?
