IN or OUT: Top 15 INs of 2010

What the hell. Everyone else is doing it.

Darlings, it's the end of the year and a time to reassess. It's more fun to reassess the choices of others, so let's do that. These were pulled only from our own "IN or OUT" posts of the last year, which means no award ceremony looks (since they tend to get their own posts) and it means a wider range of looks, since it includes things like photo calls and press events. We'll put together a "Top 15 OUTS" post just to keep the opinionated bitchery going through the holidays. We expect many of you are going to think we're smoking crack with these choices and that's fine. Click on the "IN or OUT" label at the bottom of the post and find your favorites of the last year. We want to hear it. And who knows? You might even convince us to reconsider. You can click on the links above each picture to read what we said at the time.

Are we ready? Then let's begin.

15: Evangeline Lilly in Pucci:

Evangeline Lilly attends the 'You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger' premiere at the Palais des Festivals during the 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France wearing an Emilio Pucci dress and Ferragamo clutch and shoes.

Oh, we're gonna hear it about this one. Here's what: it's insanely colorful (and the colors suit her), it's risky, and she looks like she's loving it. For us, it's an eye-catching and very memorable look. Even if fringe is involved.

14: January Jones in Louis Vuitton:

January Jones attends the cocktail party at the Louis Vuitton store on
Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California in Louis Vuitton.

She gets it so wrong so often that it's a shock when she gets it right. She's a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal, so it makes sense that she'd look more comfortable and put-together in pants.

13: Elisabeth Moss in Hervé Léger:

Elisabeth Moss attends the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards Performer Nominee Reception at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, California in Hervé Léger by Max Azria.

Another example of someone getting it so consistently wrong that a look like this really stands out. For once, everything suits her from the hair right down to the (yes) nude shoes. At the time, we weren't as complimentary, but we've changed our minds somewhat.

12: Eva Mendes in Prada:

Eva Mendes attends 'Los Otros Dos' (The Other Guys) photocall in Madrid, Spain wearing Prada.

We don't care if you hate it. We love it and we love her for taking that risk.

11: Halle Berry in Roberto Cavalli:

Halle Berry attends the "Swarovski Elements 22 Ways To Say Black" event at Philips de Pury in New York City. She wore a Roberto Cavalli dress and carried a Stella McCartney bag.

This inclusion surprised even us but it really illustrates the whole "she knows how to wear clothes" thing. On a less talented red carpet poser, this would have looked slutty or tacky. On Halle, it's the height of sophistication and style.

10: Taylor Lautner:

Meeting at Mega Box in Seoul, South Korea.

Who doesn't love a cute boy in a well-fitted suit?

9: Christina Ricci in Peter Som:

Christina Ricci attends the 7th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards
at Skylight SOHO in New York City in a Peter Som guipure lace dress.

An example of the right dress on the right girl. So right that we can't even picture another woman wearing this. She's ruined it for the rest of you gals.

8: Darren Criss:

Darren Criss poses for a picture at The Trevor Projects annual 'Trevor LIVE' held at The Hollywood Palladium on December 5, 2010 in Hollywood, California.

Who doesn't love a cute boy looking adorable?

7: Joseph Gordon-Levitt:

Who doesn't love a cute boy in a plaid suit?

6: Heidi Klum in Roberto Cavalli:

Heidi Klum attends amfAR Milano 2010 Red Carpet during Milan Fashion Week at La Permanente in Milan, Italy wearing a Roberto Cavalli gown.

Frau Samuel rarely gets it right, and she almost never goes for "sophisticated" (because she usually defaults to "hot"), but she looks stunning in this dress with that hair.

5: Dakota Fanning in Valentino:

Dakota Fanning attends the premiere of Apparition's 'The Runaways' held at ArcLight Cinemas Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles in Valentino and Ferragamo pumps.

Exactly how a teenager should dress for the red carpet, in our opinion

4: Anne Hathaway in Valentino:

Anne Hathaway attends a screening of "Love & Other Drugs" at DGA Theater in New York City in Valentino.

The commentariat was in opposition to us at the time, but we still think this is the perfect dress to wear to the opening of your holiday rom-com.

3: Claire Danes in Valentino:

Claire Danes attends the Valentino Haute Couture fall 2010 show
at Place Vendome in Paris, France in Valentino Fall 2010.

If we were costume designers for a film about a chic American starlet and her equally as chic European husband attending fashion shows in Paris, we couldn't come up with a better look than this.

2: Keira Knightley in Chanel:

Keira Knightley attends the "Never Let Me Go" premiere during the Opening Night of the 54th BFI London Film Festival in Chanel Couture.

As we said at the time, we can practically smell the Chanel No. 5 from here.

1: Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen:

Cate Blanchett attends the Opening Night Dinner at the Hotel Majestic during the 63rd Annual International Cannes Film Festival on May 12, 2010 in Cannes, France wearing an Alexander McQueen gown and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

A diva pays tribute to a maestro. Bow down, peasants.
